2025 CATCOP Project – Planned Upgrades
Under the Caribbean Air Transport Connectivity Project (CATCOP)—funded by the World Bank through the International Development Association (IDA)— Lauriston Airport is undergoing strategic upgrades aimed at improving operational capacity, safety, and regional accessibility.
These planned improvements form part of a broader initiative to modernize airport infrastructure, support sustainable aviation development, and ensure that Lauriston Airport continues to meet the evolving needs of passengers, airlines, and the wider community.
Key enhancements include:
Installation of Night Landing Facilities
The installation of night-landing facilities will enable safe and efficient nighttime operations at Lauriston Airport by late 2025. These enhancements are designed to improve operational capability, increase safety standards, and expand the airport’s service capacity.
Planned Night-Landing Infrastructure Includes:
- Beacon Light on the Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower
- Flood Lights for the Apron
- Runway and Apron Lighting
- Navigation Lights
- Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI)
- Obstruction Lights
Other Key Enhancements:
- Runway extension and terminal upgrades
- New control tower, advanced security systems, and enhanced passenger amenities
- Hurricane-resistant infrastructure and renewable energy systems
These upgrades will position Lauriston Airport as a modern regional hub capable of supporting increased air traffic and meeting international operational standards and requirements.

CATCOP (Caribbean Aviation Transformation and Compliance Program) is dedicated to strengthening air transport systems across four Caribbean islands—Haiti, Grenada, Dominica, and St. Lucia.
