Customs & Excise has the duty to protect Grenada from the importation of drugs, firearms and other harmful goods and stop travelers from evading import duty. All persons entering the country are required by law to declare to Customs anything contained in their baggage, or carried with them, which has been obtained outside of Grenada.

Customs Declaration Form

All passengers are required to complete the Immigration/Customs Declaration Form. This form will be provided to you onboard by your airline and there are copies available in the Arrivals Hall. It is advisable to fill out your declaration in advance of your arrival in order to expedite Immigration and Customs clearances.

Passengers are also required to answer all questions asked by the Customs Officer relating to their travel, baggage, its contents and other items being imported. Passengers are asked to be honest when filling out the declarations and cooperate with the Customs Officers. Misinformation can result in delays and penalties

Exemptions

No Exemptions or Duty-Free Relief Apply

The following persons and goods are not eligible for duty-free exemptions or relief:

Persons

Anyone returning to Grenada after an absence of less than 24 hours.

Age Restrictions

Persons under 18 years of age are not eligible for relief on spirits (except perfumed spirits), tobacco products, or wine.

Commercial Goods

No relief is granted for goods intended for commercial use.

Red and Green Channel System

To expedite the clearance of passengers arriving, Customs & Excise uses the Red & Green Channel System. Incoming passengers are advised to choose the appropriate channels for Customs clearance: Passengers with nothing to declare may pass through the Green Channel while passengers with goods to declare have to pass through the Red Channel.

GREEN Channel

You should choose the Green Channel (nothing to declare) if you:

  • Do not have to pay taxes on goods you are bringing in.
  • Do not have to fulfil customs formalities.
  • Are not carrying goods that are forbidden in Grenada.
  • Are not carrying goods to which restrictions apply in Grenada.

RED Channel

You should choose the Red Channel (goods to declare) if you:

  • Have to pay taxes on goods you are bringing in.
  • Have to fulfil customs formalities.
  • Are not sure whether you have to declare something.

Prohibited Items

These are items that are completely banned from being carried on an aircraft, either in carry-on or checked baggage. They cannot be transported under any circumstances because they pose significant safety or security risks.

  • Explosives
  • Flammable liquids
  • Certain hazardous chemicals
  • Narcotics
  • Arms and ammunition

Restricted Items

Certain items are permitted only under specific conditions or limitations. They may require special packaging, quantity restrictions, or prior approval from the airline or relevant authorities. Please review the guidelines below before traveling:

Items Requiring Import Permits or Declaration

  • Firearms – Licensed firearms must be declared. A local licence can be obtained from the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF).
  • Animals / Birds – An Import Permit must be obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture.
  • Meat & Meat Products – An Import Permit is required from the Ministry of Agriculture.
  • Fruits & Vegetables – An Import Permit must be secured from the Ministry of Agriculture.
  • Seafood – An Import Permit must be obtained from the Fisheries Division.
